Lets take a look at Sweden, because I for on often see leftists use Sweden as an example of how 'successful' a country can become under a large bureaucracy.

People tend to defend Sweden for being successful with their big government but they fail to look at before it was big government. Starting around 1870 Sweden became a limited government, and had a pretty free market. They were a free market for over 80 years, avoiding two world wars. This created a lot of capital accumulation and made Sweden by 1950 and a little beyond the 4th richest nation on earth. In 1950 the social democrats took over and formed a big government. In the 2000's they were ranked the 14th richest nation in the world. They are declining, and will need to free the market to stop it. Centralized government need a lot of wealth to survive, but centralized government policies destroy wealth. Sweden is eating itself alive, and free market capitalism will save them.
