Find the range of f(x) = -x + 4 for the domain (-3, -2, -1, 1) {-7,-6,5,3} {7, 6, 5, 3} {-7,-6,-5,-4} {7, 6, 5, 4}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug in each number and see what comes out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

domain are the x variables and range is the set of y-variable in a function. You are looking for f(x) or y. Substitute each value of the domain in the function. For example, the 1st domain is x= -3 , plug this into the function: f(-3)= -(-3) + 4 is...? Then do this to each of the domain to get the range.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so D? @Data_LG2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, if you sub x= 1 , what will you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh is it A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Data_LG2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe :) tell me what you get for x=1 first (just to make sure you're not guessing )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am guessing because I can't figure it out and I'm kinda in a hurry the end of the course is friday D:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Data_LG2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's okay. Just relax, you can do it :) what is -1 + 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, now look at choice A and D, which one has a range of 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correcto :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much *^*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem :) cheers! semester's almost over time for some yummy lemonade:D
