Use pascals triangle to expand each binomial (a+b)^8

Nnesha (nnesha):

http://prntscr.com/777cch rows start from 0 what numbers are in 8 row ? exponent is 8 so second number of row suppose to be 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8,28,56,70,56,28,8

OpenStudy (rational):

Yes! don't forget the "1"'s in the ends

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yeah, i forgot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do i do next? Do i plug in numbers to the equation?

OpenStudy (rational):

that row gives you the coefficifents

OpenStudy (rational):

\[\large (a+b)^8=\square a^8+\square a^7b+\square a^6b^2+\cdots\]

OpenStudy (rational):

put those numbers in above boxes and keep going

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay thanks

OpenStudy (rational):

np may i see what you get in the end

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I saw that a's exponents are decreasing and b's exponents were increasing. a^8 + 8a^7b + 28a^6b^2 + 56a^5b^3... + b^8

Nnesha (nnesha):

yes that's right exponent of first term start from given exponent exponent of 2nd term start from 0

OpenStudy (rational):

looks good! also notice that the exponents add up to "8" for all terms

OpenStudy (rational):

please medal Nnesha, not me

Nnesha (nnesha):

please don't :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am using openstudy on my phone. Its not making me change the medal

Nnesha (nnesha):
