The diameter of a basketball rim is 18 inches. A standard basketball has a circumference of 30 inches. What is the distance between the ball and the rim in a shot in which the ball goes in exactly in the center of the rim if the ball goes through the center of the hoop? Please walk me through it

i believe that the diameter being 18 in. is half which you add 18+18 to get 36 and the ball only having a circumference of 30 in. you should have 6 in. between the ball and the rim if im right im not 100% sure
