Phenylketonuria, or PKU, is a recessive genetic disorder in which the amino acid phenylalanine cannot be properly metabolized. Children with PKU develop mental disabilities. However, the condition can be prevented with a special diet if the disease is caught very early. Which of these is a societal decision that could be made based on scientific knowledge about PKU?
