here we have to determine two coefficients, say a, and b, such that: y=a*x+b
In doing that, I can use your intercepts, namely, if I set x=0, and y=4 I get: 4=b whereas, if I set y=0, and x=-5, I get: 0=-5a+b so we have to solve this system: \[\Large \left\{ \begin{gathered} 4 = b \hfill \\ 0 = - 5a + b \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \right.\] what do you get?
i would solve for a right?
yes!
okay i think it would be 4/5
that's right! So what is your equation?
y=4/5x+4 but it wont let me put "4/5" in my equation in my answer
i knew that
ok!
