Add -27+45 A. -72 B. -18 C. 18 D. 72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you need help with here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know it is 72 but is it -72 or is it 72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it says add

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think -72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think of it as a straight line. With 0 in the middle. -27 is 27 slots to the right of 0 right? You then want to add 42 slots. So adding you would go towards 0, and then keep going. So the first 27 slots would be taken to get to 0. You then have 18 slots remaining of the 42 to go past 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But why do u subtract

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh so it's 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does this make sense or would you like a visual? I'd be happy to make one for you if that will help this make sense.

OpenStudy (mle):

you start at -27 then adding means to count to the right |dw:1432155388552:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It makes sense just to make sure it's c right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Who could help me with another
