Check my work?: find the greatest common factor: 8xy5 − 16x2y3 + 20x4y4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer: The greatest factor of the coefficients 8,16,20 is 4. All of the numbers have an "x". Thus, the greatest common factor must have an x... so far its 4x. Now, if you look at the "y" variable, you can see that the first set is y^5, the other is y^3, and the last one is y^4. When multiplying variables, for example, a^2 * a^6, you add the exponents, so the result will be a^8. Now, the only variable that you would be able to add to all of the sets to give you 8xy5 − 16x2y3 + 20x4y4 , would be y^3 So the factor of this equation is 4xy^3

your correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nnesha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, fine i was just saying you was right jeez -_- what such greatful people these days

Nnesha (nnesha):

yeah that's right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah but I have more experience with Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

lowest degree of x is just 1 so yeah x^1 is common factor lowest degree of y is 3 so yeah y^3 is a common factor 8 and 16 and 20 are divisible by 4 so yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See ik what i was doing. but whateva. -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If your math was as bad as your grammar then clearly I'd be correct in assuming you didn't know what you were talking about and moving on to someone more qualified to answer my question.

Nnesha (nnesha):

is that for meh ?? -.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^No. It's for Sidney. She's getting all butt-hurt that I tagged you instead of just blindly assuming she was correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry but I have to agree, Sidney's grammar was just painful to read.

Nnesha (nnesha):

well my grammer is like trashcan ;-; ^.- so please don't be rude

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, i have perfect grammar thank you!! i just dont like using it sometimes. last time i checked this was math not Grammar. I came out the top student with the perfect grammar at my old school. and @SmokeyRiver im not butt hurt i just didnt like how you ignored me and still taqgged the same person. And i was right. @Nnesha my grammar is like more then a trashcan sometimes lol and @inkism i dont think anyone asked you. js :) But i tried to help you but you ignore me. and yea
