My response got erased b/c of bad internet connection. Hello, let me know any questions you have to help better explain. When we think of slaves, we usually think about African Americans. They were the majority though, not the only race to be slaves at the time. The 13th amendment never mentions African Americans or any other races. It simply abolishes slavery for all people within the U.S.. So no, I do not believe ratifying the 13th amendment was a way for the government to give full citizenship to African Americans. Why? 13th amendment does not say so. It doesn't mention African Americans being the intention it. Just freedom of slavery for all.
