What is the linking verb in the sentence? Mrs. Sherman always appears happy whenever we see her. A. see B. whenever C. appears D. happy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

appears is the linking verb. To test this, replace the linking verb with a form of "to be" (is, was, will be) if the sentence still makes sense, it is a linking verb. If the sentence doesn't make sense anymore, it is an action verb. In this case: "Mrs. Sherman always is happy when we see her" ( we would change "always is" to "is always" but it still makes sense)
