oh wait, would you just do (x*x)=(x-2)(x+4)?

in circle product of chord are equal
x*x=(x-2)*(x+4)
x2=x2-2x+4x-8
2x-8=0
2x=8
x=8/2=4

yep...this problem was on a test for a bonus and I completely spaced on that..Even though I had just finished doing like six of these. Oh well, thank you so much for you help anyways!! :DD
