The Columbian Exchange was a very prosperous time for the European colonies as many new technologies were arriving. Foods like maize, tomatoes and potatoes started being shipped to Europe from South America along with the tools and knowledge needed to grow them. Of course when there is more trade happening there is more money flowing in and out of the countries aiding in the eventual growth of the colonies.
