Points Y and Z are the same distance from point X on a number line. The coordinate of point X is 8 and the coordinate of point Y is 2. What is the coordinate of point Z?
@xxyourenotalonexx
I'll medal and fan.......
Ordered on the number line the distance from y to x is 8 - 2 = ?
6
If you take the answer to this to prolong the number line from x further the same distance you will find what you are looking for.
So...?
The order is Y->X->Z
From Y to X is 6. And from X to Z the same.
Sorry, math isn't my subject >.<
To get from Y to X you take 2 as starting point for Y adds what you've calculated as distance. To get from X to Z you take X (I believe it was 8) and add the same (you texted).
To get from 2 to 8 is 8 - 2 = 6. As you correctly pointed out.
And now from how much you would need subtract 6 (same distance) to get 8?
...14? I'm probably wrong though...
Correct. You've sold it.
I mean solved
Once again: 2 -> 8 -> 14 6 6
Really?? Thank you @AlexanderBrockhaus
Btw. you haven't had a typo there? I would expect a teacher to write it rather as X -> Y -> Z to prevent confusion. Except he / she wants also to teach you to really read and undestand it. Anyway, you've got it.
