this is a poem i wrote more for myself than anyone else. I really needed to get this out. As always i love critics edits opinions anything If i tagged you and you dont wish to be tagged please message me privately
I’m tired of feeling inferior to you. Like your problems are more important. Because it’s okay if I have panic attack But not you. And that’s my fault. For letting my insecurities get the better of me. And not speaking up, To keep you, from stepping on me. But here we are. I’m carrying the cart with all the luggage And you’re sitting on top. Because I put in all this effort so that we stay friends, And what do you do? You hate phones, So we cant text. And if I call, you pick up ten percent of the time. If I’m lucky. Friendships are supposed to be a two street But all this feels like is a dictatorship. If I say the wrong thing Then kicked off the island. And the only way to ever contact you is to randomly show up at your house. But we live 30 min away from each other. So why do I have to waste My gas and My time To pick You up? Or to see you? To talk to you? Because when I need my best friend now She’s somewhere else. And when you need me I’m there. And that’s not to say that you’ve never been there. That’s to say that you haven’t been. Because every single time you pull back I get a little quitter. But I’m here to say I’m done. Texting one word isn’t gonna do. I’m done putting in all the effort. So its time you start or we as friends will just turn into dust.
Poems are for the readers i guess :)
@rvc i would actually have to disagree. Poems are typically more the writer than the reader. I write a lot about perspective and society and for that type of writing i do it for the audience as well as myself. It's to voice my opinion. But when write a poem like this than its for me. As a writer i want improve so im always opinion to ideas and suggestions. But when its poetry its really just suggestions because if the writer thinks it's perfect than its perfect. And all its faults are just poetic licenses
*open not opinion lol
But i would say it is for readers
@rvc when people write about there lives typically it's for them. And really i suppose all this is perspective because thinking in your shoes your not wrong but neither am i. I suppose it depends on the writer and what the writer says. Because thats just purpose. And no one but the writer can determine who theyre writing for.
I love that poem,it practicly describes my relationship with my "best friend".But that is not the only reason i love it.
I love it, even though I don't have a great relationship with anyone.

As a poet myself, I understand what you mean about it being mostly as a way to vent. To get it out there. And that it's mostly for the author. Now, if the readers enjoy it, that's a bonus. But the main thing is releasing the pent up feelings into written word.
From a fellow poet, i say kudos and great job
@ccg02655 thanks
@JackofallTradez thank you for understanding. And i do a lot for my readers as well but ultimately its about what the writer likes especially when it comes to poetry because as soon as you start trying to please everyone else you lose the soul that made your writing so good in the first place
@ispike I think that the meaning of poetry and writing, and art in general, belong equally to the creator and consumer. The original, and indeed the true, meaning will always belong to the author alone. The art is a distillation of their thoughts and feelings. But the work may have another important, different meaning to the audience who sees it. There are allowances to be made for personal interpretations. In fact, it's been said that maybe the ability to maintain contradictions is art's true strength. Like the impossible geometry of Lovecraft; it's real within the imagination, or perhaps beyond it, and reality can't do that. Of course there is something to be said about the author having fiat, but each version is meaningful in it's own way, and has the potential to be one of the best interpretations.
@epikenzie i totally agree with that. The majority of the time i write poems keeping the audience in mind. i wont put a word down unless it ha at least three meanings. But i originally started writing poetry because its the only way i know how to tell people how i feel. i normally dont post poetry like this because its for me. But being vulnerable is all apart if the writing gig. When i write a poem for me and strictly me it's always open for interpretation. Make it into what you want, but I'm not as interested in critics in the voice of the writing. That;s what i was trying to say. I dont know how it got into this big debate. I just wanted to write something for me and to have the grammar checked.
P E R F E C T!!!! You are super duper talented! The whole thing... It describes true feelings in our everyday life. Keep up the AMAZING work!!! ;)
