OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Is it considered spam to post news of a extraordinary discovery? For example, if a new exciting chemistry discovery was just made, would it be spam to share that as a question?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

If it is...would it be good to make a section for news like this? (educational discoveries only )

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

So I think there would a be a fine line between " a new compound has been discovered" and " this movie just broke the box office" in regards to spam

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Well it all depends on what section you post it and if its chemistry based and its in the chem section then i think its ok.

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

Yep as long as it is in the correct section :)

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

But it must be appropriate :)

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

But if its about the new Iphone or something then it would be spam.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

I was planning to release news on the biology section that a bionic lens that will make your vision 3 times greater than 20/20 has been made (forever), and likely be sold within the next two years. Apparently..it can fix blindness too?

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

omd please share that!!!!

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

post it in the biology section :D

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Yea its ok :D just done promote the product on OS :D

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

jag its news.....not a product...

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

No in general.

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

he says the next two years and dtan remeber to cite sources :)

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

:D

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yeah, as long as it serves a educational purpose I don't see any harm.

hartnn (hartnn):

Anything useful will never be considered as a spam! :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the irony is that the canned meat, spam, itself is useful :)

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

probably the best joke i've heard on OS @amistre64

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Yes, it is not considered spam at all. In fact people do it all the time :D Only @shrutipande9 comes in mind. She always shares important discoveries in the bio section all the time :D
