ill wants to solve the following system using the elimination method: y = x + 8 y = 3x − 11 What number should the equation y = x + 8 be multiplied by to eliminate x? 1) -1 2) -2 3) -3 4) 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Equate the 2 formula's together and you will have: x + 8 = 3x - 11 use algebra to solve the rest

i totally lied its just -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want to add <some number> * x+8 and add it to 3x - 11 so 3x + <#> * x = 0? clearly -3. Sorry for blatantly giving you the answer
