What is the significance of the Bering land bridge to the distribution of animals in what is now called North America and Asia?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Bering land bridge was a prehistoric land mass of frozen ice on the northern tip of the world. It was connected from the eastern tip of Asia to modern day Alaska and Canada. This provided migration routes from Asia to North America. Scientists believe that that early humans eventually populated North America from following migrating herds from Asia to North America. Hope it helps!
