in the 50s, they made the houses in very similar ways, the structure was the same, and they were almost identical. this allowed the building companies to build the houses faster than ever before. theses houses drew people out of the cities, and into the suburbs. it was also advertised that living in the suburbs and driving a car, and living a family life, was the american dream and society enforced this image. this was also the birth of the iconic image of the american housewife.
