Freud states that we make decisions based on three basis, which are primitive, realistic and based on observation and evaluation. ID is primitive- its what our normal body functional will initiate when aroused by a stimuli. However or ego, will regulate our ID and based on the reality that is infront of us. Lastly, we come to a decision based on our observations and evaluations that will either allow or prohibit based on right and wrong principles. Think of it in a scenario in which, you become hungry in the supermarket but you have no money. There are no cameras or security guards and the cashier/owner is not paying attention to you because he is on a call. ID: Take the potato chips Ego: You do not have money to pay for it SuperEgo: Taking it without paying is stealing and you may be persecuted if caught.
