You are correct but the notation. It is 1 pair of solution (-1,0) that is x =-1, y =0 but they go together.

Oh okay so I would just write it like a pair (-1,0) and this applies to the system as a whole.

since you have 2 options: 1 solution or 2 solutions. They are different, right? one pair of solution is 1 solution while 2 pairs of solution is 2 solution. Hence, depend on what your prof determine the solution, you follow him. My prof is not that ambiguous notation. :)
