Two dice are rolled to determine the sum. What is the probability that the sum on both dice is 7, given that exactly one die turned up a 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/6, the odds of rolling a 2 on one die.

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

not to argue with @robtobey but that is the probability you get a seven, not the "odds" in any case the question tells you that one of the die is 9 we can list all of those, it is not that many

OpenStudy (misty1212):

here is the list of rolls where one die is a 5 \[(5,1),(5,2),(5,3),(5,4),(5,5),(5,6),(1,5),(2,5),(3,5),(4,5),(6,5)\]

OpenStudy (misty1212):

i count eleven out of those, how many add up to 7?
