Okay so lets pretend that "L" means the square root symbol. I know that "L-36" has no solution. But what if the negative was outside of the square root such as "-L484"

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

Hello and welcome to Openstudy. If the negative is out side the square root, then the solution is negative. Ex: \[-\sqrt{4}\] is the same as\[-2\]

OpenStudy (omarbirjas):

If the negative is on the outside, then when you calculate the square root, that also becomes a negative.

I see, I was really confused because I thought it also had no answer. Thank you!
