What is the value of x to the nearest degree?
Maybe it is me but I can't open that.
Its a right triangle with a 10 on top and 6 on the side and x on the inside
|dw:1432697785225:dw| ?
Exactly but the x is on the bottom right
|dw:1432697851122:dw|
well you can use the sides that are already given plug a trig ratio that relates the given with the need to be found
see the side touching the angle that isn't the hyp that is called the adjacent side see the side that isn't touching the angle at all that is called the opposite side
recall soh cah toa
tan is opp/adj
once you setup the equation you will just need to take arctan( ) of both sides
So would the equation be 10 x 6?
thats an expression not an equation tan(x)=?
can you identify the measurement for both the opposite side and the adjacent side w.r.t to the angle x
Tan(x) = opp/adj = 10/6 , so x = arctg(5/3) *arctg is the tan^-1 function in your calculator
ok I am getting 1.66 for both 10/6 5/3 am I right so far
yes but you still need to do arctan(5/3) or arctan(10/6) or arctan(1.6666)
58.93 is the answer thanks to all that helped(freckles)
on your calculator, find tan^-1 and press that and (10/6) and you will get 59 degrees
