What are some reading character roles????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@-minibubbles-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh oh oh... i found an answer in the lesson it says in the short answer question talk about your reading role you chose in lesson 1, so ill tell you the roles...give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Each of the descriptions below is related to the reading character roles. Determine which role you are most interested in adopting. Connector – Pose the following: Connect what you have read so far in the novel with things you have experienced at home or in your personal life. Connect what you have read so far to what is going on in the world right now. Discussion Director – Pose the following: What images come to mind as you read? If you could interview the author, what question would you ask? Why? Predict what will happen next, and why you made this prediction. Luminary – Pose the following: Which part of the reading (an interesting fact, a piece of dialogue, an event) really struck you? Why? Summarizer – Pose the following: What are the key facts and/or main ideas in this selection? If you were to come up with an essay topic for this selection, what main idea would you choose? Write an essay question or prompt. Word Watcher – Pose the following: What new words do you find in this selection? What words are used frequently? What words are used in unusual ways?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

found this in lesson 1 :D so we pick one and talk about it : )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok great! which one will you pick?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so there is connector, discussion director, luminary, summarizer, and word watcher...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me think...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im gonna do either discussion director, luminary, or word watcher, those ones seem the easiest lol ;D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im thinking luminary or word watcher

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe ill do luminary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I've made my decision...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can do word watcher :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm gonna be discussion director cuz i have some ideas in mind for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ok thats fine too :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome ok lets get to it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill be here if you need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your welcome :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont really get the part where it says: "Determine the ideas that would be most worthy to share in a literary discussion"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means just to say if you were in a group discussion for the story, say the best ideas that you found about your role

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh i get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For my reading character role for the story "Dragonwings", I chose to be Discussion Director, and this role has helped me understand the story better by paying closer attention to what the author was thinking when he was writing the book, and also what the imagery was during the time I was reading. When I was reading the story and it mention the underground gang, I automatically imagined, like an underground bar, that is very dangerous to go to. Another place where I could clearly imagine a scene was when Moonrider and Moon Shadow moved to the stable behind Miss Whitlaw's boarding house, I could imagine a pretty nice boarding house, and then a not so nice stable, but it was probably all Windrider could find or even afford. If I could interview the author of "Dragonwings" the question that I would definitely ask him would be were did all of his ideas in the story about what the characters do, or the characters names stem from? I would ask him that because his story so far is so interesting and detailed, I just wonder where the ideas stemmed from. Did they all stem from his childhood? His family? Also, lastly I predict that next in the story, Moon Shadow is going to go and explore in that area because (like his father said) he thinks too much. Then he might get into some trouble by maybe going somewhere he wasn't supposed too. That is what I thought about when I was reading, and thinking about my reading character role.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow your really fast

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For my reading character role for the story "Dragonwings", I chose to be Luminary, and this role has helped me understand the story better by paying attention to what the author is trying to say to the reader, and it also helped me realize the interesting events that happened in the novel. Whe i was reading the novel and I read the part where Black Dog had an addiction to opium and he disappeared was the part that struck me the most. It struck me because it came to a shock to me just like it did to the characters in the novel such as his Uncle, Moon Shadow, and also Windrider. It also struck me because I never thought that Black Dog was doing drugs. That is what I thought about when I was reading, and thinking about my reading character role.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are some words used in the book?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what I have so far: One event that represents a cause-and-effect relationship that creates conflict is when Black Dog beats up Moon Shadow. help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that looks good so far

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me continue it pleaseeee?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. i would say...One event that represents a cause-and-effect relationship that creates a conflict is when Black Dog beats up Moon Shadow, for his money, later on Windrider finds out, and matches Black Dog to a fight at the underground gang, and Moon Shadow and Windrider win. That is the cause and effect, also it is the outcome of the situation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! ill try to add and reword some stuff :)
