OpenStudy (liv1234):

Could someone help me out with a question please?(:

OpenStudy (liv1234):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok 1st of all, what is meiosis, do you know?

OpenStudy (liv1234):

It is when there is a process in which a number of chromosomes per cell is cut in half through the separation of homologous chromosomes in a diploid cell.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you see anywhere in the cycle where gametes are produced (eggs and sperm) then that is meiosis, or if you see any indicators of ploidy (number of chromosome sets) like 2n or 2N vs just n or N and there is indication of going from 2n to n then that is meiosis.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So is that what I would write for my answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just say because there are gametes being produced

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Can you give me a bit of a longer answer only because it's three points and I wanna get enough detail in there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The sperm and egg indicate that meiosis is taking places because in order for it to be declared as meiosis, there must be a gamete produced.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So that's what I'd say? And thank you for your help I appreciate it.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

@kimbolee could you help me with another question please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure , just fan and medal me please

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Okay. So the question is "how are chordates and vertebrates related?"
