What does it mean to vow on something? Like when someone says, I vow on something/someone that I will always do something?

I know, but usually when someone takes a vow, they say that they vow on something that they will do something. What does that mean?

its just a way of ensuring they are going to accomplish their mission.

Yeah kind of.. people vow on different things bt yes that is the general idea.

It depends on what your vowing the friendship on.

well then in tht case its kinda like saying if i dont accomplish this, our friendship is broken.
