Please help with Which figure must be a square? A. a quadrilateral with four right angles B. a parallelogram with four congruent sides C. a quadrilateral with congruent sides D. a rhombus with four right angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you think it is?

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

i think a parallelogram with four congruent sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope but close

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a a quad=4 sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hint these are all examples of quadrilaterals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SickTwistd your not suppose to give direct answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well SORRY im new to this okay, just joined yesterday

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is fine! I just don't want you to get in trouble!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kay!

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

but this looks like a sqare... doesnt it?!?! http://www.montereyinstitute.org/courses/DevelopmentalMath/COURSE_TEXT2_RESOURCE/U07_L2_T1_text_final_3_files/image012.gif

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bye guys!

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

it was under a parallelogram with four congruent sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it won't be b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look at this picture again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are quadrilateral

OpenStudy (anonymous):

according to wikipedia the definiton of a square is a plane figure with four equal straight sides and four right angles. so which one do you think is the right answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. A quadrilateral could be so many things B. a parallelogram with angles that are all the same C. a four sided polygon with sides with the same length D. a diamond-ish shape with the same angles Sooo.... A. nope, it doesn't have to be just a square. It could be a number of things. But in the question is says it MUST be a square. B. a parallelogram could have a number of different side lengths. So no... C. squares are four sided and have sides that are the same length D. diamonds can't have angles that are all equal- that isn't logical Sooo... I would have to go with C. =D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But a parallelogram is a four-sided plane rectilinear figure with opposite sides parallel.

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

okay thanks guys!!! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but a parallelogram ONLY has to have parallel sides. Which means that, unlike a square, it's angles could be NOT the same. And in the question it says 'what answer MUST be a square'. And a parallelogram doesn't necessarily HAVE to be a square. Which rules it out. =D

OpenStudy (rebeccapink6398):

=D thanks
