OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I suppose you know how to find the area of a rectangle. It's a lot like that, but for 6 rectangles! I'll start you off. 3 in times 11 in = 33. Since it's the same on the other side- that's 66 square inches. Can you do the rest? (you only need to do two more, just multiply them by two sine the opposite side will always be the same.) Once you're done you can add them up.

since*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

front is 18 isnt it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18 by 3. 3 is the height, 8 is the width.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f/b = 18x3 =56 x2 =108

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you sure 18x3 is 56?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait 54

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, probably a typo, since you got 108. Alright, so you have 1 more side to go,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the top

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(and bottom)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t/b = 11x3 =33x2=66 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the one I did. The top is 18*11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18x 11= 198x2 =396

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup, so now let's add it up. 396+66+108 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

507

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you mean 570?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

opps yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

570

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NP. So that's your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
