If AC is perpendicular to EF , the angle at D should be 90 degrees..... They give you the other two angles in that triangle. and the total of the three angles in a triangle are 180

So the measure of angle D is 180 - 44 - 48 = 88 Angle D is 88 degrees, so the two lines are not perpendicular
