Well between 1 and 2, they added 5, and between 2 and 3, they added 7. So they are adding in a pattern, like 5, 7, 9, etc.
all of the dots are arranged as a square and contains square number of dots. First contains 4 dots which is the square number of 2, 2nd contains 9 which is the square of 3, 3rd contains 16 dots which is the square of 4 .... see the pattern?

Or you can see that in the first picture, the dots are 2 by 2, in the second picture they are 3 by 3, and so on. So for the 6th picture, it'll be 7 by 7, which is 49. Basically everything that @Harindu said, lol
