what happens when two unlike charges are put together?

basically ,
there are two types of electrically charged objects-
POSITIVELY CHARGED:those that contain more protons than electrons
NEGETIVELY CHARGED:those that contain less protons than electrons
according to fundamental principle of charge interaction----
a positively charged object will attract a negatively charged object
but a positively charged object will repel another positively charged object and same goes for negetively charged object
