Find the measure of angle y. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. (please type the numerical answer only)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (welshfella):

tan y = 5/14 y is the angle whose tangent is 5/14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella thanks i was using the cotagent ratio but i dot know what to do after that

OpenStudy (welshfella):

there is no need to use the cotangent tan = opposite / adjacent = 5/14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cotagent is the same think tho, just the reciprocal cot= adj/opp

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes cot = 1 / tan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what do i do after tan(y)= 5/14 ?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

well use your calculator to find angle whose tan = 5/14 5 divided by 14 = 0.3571 so enter tan-1 0.3571 and press exe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one sec

OpenStudy (welshfella):

- though some calculators requre differnt order

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well 5/14 is 0.35714.. @welshfella whats the next step?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

on ur calculator enter tan-1 0.35714 then press exe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.33822 so would it be 0.34?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella thanks for helping :)
