The binomial x + 3 is one factor of 2x3 - x2 - 18x + 9. Use complete sentences to explain how you use (either) polynomial division or synthetic division to find the remaining factors. List the remaining factors.

It is difficult to explain both synthetic division and polinomials division in here. Please refer to http://www.trans4mind.com/personal_development/mathematics/polynomials/hornerMethod.htm

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

if you do the polynomial division or synthetic division you will have a quadratic as the quotient... so then it will be simply a case of factoring the quadratic... do you know how to do polynomial division..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

do you know about synthetic division...?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok.... if that is a struggle you can factor the cubic by grouping in pairs start by pairing up things that look similar \[2x^3 - x^2 - 18x + 9 = (2x^3 - 18x) - (x^2 - 9)\]does that make sense...?
