You have to simplify and get each term separately, for you question : you have to get a's in one term , ax's in one term and finally the x's in separate term . Simply do this, ( ) a + ( ) ax + ( ) x Now fill these brackets with coeff.s you've given .. ( -2 ) a + ( 10 - 2 ) ax + ( 12 - 2 ) x = -2 a + 8 ax + 10 x , which is "a" Let me know if you got it :)
