The expression below shows the population of squirrels in a forest after 3x years: f(x) = 30(1.03)3x Which of the following is an equivalent function? f(x) = 30(3.0900)x f(x) = 30(1.0927)x f(x) = 10(1.0927)x f(x) = 10(3.0900)x

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

$$\huge 30(1.03)3x =(30)\times(1.03)\times(3)x$$

OpenStudy (ciarán95):

Firstly, work out the value of 30 x 1.03 x 3 that appears in the original function (before the x). You can do this by hand, but its easier in this case to use a calculator (if you're allowed to!). Then, work out the answer to the two multiplied values (before the x) in each of the four possible equivalent functions above, as you did before. Whichever answer equals the value you obtained in the original expression will allow you to identify the equivalent function. Good luck! :)

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

recall: $$\Huge(ab)c=a(bc)$$ the grouping or association of the numbers does not affect the result
