@mLe What is the product in scientific notation? (2.5x10^-8)(9x10^-10) A. 2.25 x 10^19 B 2.25 x 10^-16 C. 2.25 x 10^-17 D. 2.25 x 10^-18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mLe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am thinking D 2.25 x 10^-18

OpenStudy (mle):

good guess but not quite 22.5 x 10^-18 would have been right ^ but as you can see, there's a little problem with the 22.5 instead of 2.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second part is confusing bc the 9 is not used ...wait would i do 9 x 10^-10?

OpenStudy (mle):

2.5 * 9 = 22.5 ;)

OpenStudy (mle):

10^-8 x 10^-10 = 10^-18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh... y must we learn things we will most likely nvr use :/

OpenStudy (mle):

don't jinx it >.> I thought that too, but here I am, teaching you ;P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gonna post the next one and i do mental math ...nvr really messed with a calculater so out of my realm of knowledge here...lol

OpenStudy (mle):

wait wait wait the answer's not D!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will close this and post right away... it wants the standard form of what is shown in the "calculator"

OpenStudy (mle):

meowwww let's get this question right first xD what's the answer to this question??? cuz it ain't D >.>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D. is the only one that seems to make sense tho... 2.25 x 10^-18 by elimination process it seems to b the only one that it could be a... the ten to the power of positive 19... i do not see a way with the exponents to get that answer

OpenStudy (mle):

22.5 x 10^-18 is what you would get from multiplying it all but that gets you 22.5 NOT 2.25 so move the decimal over ONE more and you'll get 10^-19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. i did not think of it that way. obviously my powers of scientific notation are slow at best lol ;3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

totally lost. makes no sense when i try to break it into to and do each separately

OpenStudy (mle):

?

OpenStudy (mle):

2.5 times 9 = 22.5 10^-8 times 10^-10 = 10^-18 22.5 = 2.25 x 10^-1 so the original question = 2.25 x 10^-1 x 10^-18 = 2.25 x 10^-19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.25 times 9 would be 2.25 tho bc u have to go 2 decimal places ...i thought

OpenStudy (anonymous):

srry... i put it wrong just then lol 2.5 * 9 = 2.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u r righ ... it would b 22.5 ...not getting that tho bc i thought u have to count ovr the decimal spacesand some how i found a new non-existant one ,,,wow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if i write the exponents out as numbers would that be easier?

OpenStudy (mle):

if you like counting zeros...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah... not so much besides it confused me more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.5 * 0.0000000011 for ome reason not thinking that is how to get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am thinking the answer is not there... just gonna do an educated guess and move on... just have entirely too much left to spend too much time on it.

OpenStudy (mle):

I'm telling yah that is it the one with the 10^-19
