Distance between two points A(x1,y1) and B(x2,y2) is given by possitve \[\sqrt{(x1-x2)^{2}+(y1-y2)^{2}}\].
So putting values, we get \[\sqrt{(8-2)^{2}+(4-(-2))^{2}}=\sqrt{6^{2}+6^{2}}=\sqrt{72}=6\sqrt{2}\]
