(The Odyssey:book 9)What was Polyphemus' curse on Odysseus?

jabez177 (jabez177):

kk! @jabez177

jabez177 (jabez177):

After Odysseus and his men trick and then blind the Cyclops Polyphemus, he prays to his father, Poseidon, the god of the sea and earthquakes, and asks him to put a curse on Odysseus and his men

jabez177 (jabez177):

With that information... What do you think the curse was?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm confused a little ;c @jabez177

jabez177 (jabez177):

Polyphemus doesn't put a curse on Odysseus. Odysseus and his men blinded the cyclops Polyphemus with a sharpened stake because he had trapped them and was eating up his men. After they blinded him they were able to escape by attaching themselves to the underside of Polyphemus's sheep as he let them out the cave to graze. Polyphemus felt for the men when he let the sheep out but didn't realize they were under the sheep. When the men had escaped and returned to their ships Odysseus announced that it was him who had blinded him. Because of this Polyphemus prays to his father the God Poseidon (GOD OF THE SEA) for revenge. So Poseidon cursed them and caused storms and winds to prevent him and his crew from returning home. So they were cursed by Poseidon his father....not Polyphemus. You can get more details with the following link.... Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphemus
