help??
Hi! What do you need help with?
What you need help with?
1. Suppose that the amount of algae in a pond doubles every 4 hours. If the pond initially contains 90 pounds of algae, how much algae will be in the pond after 12 hours? (1 point) 720 pounds 360 pounds 1,440 pounds 114 pounds
Alright, this sounds pretty easy! Okay, so, it doubles every hour.
it will double three times since \(12\div 4=3\)
if we start at 90, after 4 hours it will be how much?
180
Yep! so, then we add 4 more hours to that to make it 8 hours. How much is it now?
360
Yep! now, lets add a final 4 hours to make it 12. How much is it now?
720
Yep! So, at 12 hours there will be 720 pounds of algae :) Great job anna!
2. What is the order of the numbers from least to greatest? A = 6.2 × 10–5 B = 12.3 × 10–7 C = 5.2 × 103 D = 3.7 × 10–5 (1 point) D < C < A < B B < D < A < C D < C < A < B B < A < C < D
Okay, well first we need to simplify this, and multiply them. After you do this, what do you get?
(Dont forget the order of operations, multiplication comes before subtraction)
So, for A, you would do (6.2 x 10) - 5
i cant figure out how to find 5.2x10^3
Okay, well you would do the exponent first (im assuming thats an exponent?) so, you would do 10 x 10 first, which equals 100. then, 100 x 10 which equals 1000. From there, you take 1000 x 5.2 which is?
5200
they are actually all exponents
Oh, can you re-write them with the ^ like you did the last time to make it for clear? If not, let me know if you have a difficulty and i can explain it :) after we multiply this, it should be very easy to see the smallest number, greatest number, and everything in-between :)
And yes, 5200 is correct :) Good job!
2. What is the order of the numbers from least to greatest? A = 6.2 × 10^–5 B = 12.3 × 10^–7 C = 5.2 × 10^3 D = 3.7 × 10^–5 (1 point) D < C < A < B B < D < A < C D < C < A < B B < A < C < D
Okay, that helps, thank you. Well, now we know that C = 5200. Have you done A and B as well?
idk how to do it with negatives
Well, there are some rules when multiplying integers. Positive x negative = negative Positive x positive = positive negative x negative = positive negative x positive = negative So, 2 positives makes a positive. 2 negatives makes a positive, and 1 negative makes a negative. I know it probably will be hard to learn, but youll get it eventually :) Practice makes perfect! And dont be afraid to look it up if you need to :)
i cant figure it out
