Open Ended Questions: Standard level students should choose one question. Honors level students must do both. 1. Identify one of the darker actions examined in a selection from Unit 3. In what piece is the action highlighted? (What story are poem are you referencing? Be sure to put it in quotation marks and include the author’s name.) What intentions or emotions prompt the action? (Why did the character do what he or she did?) How would the story or drama change if the character involved were able to overcome the darker impulse and indulge a higher intention? (How, specifically, would the piece have unfolded differently if more positive emotions or intentions had taken over?) Explain. (10 points) *Notice the words in bold print are mine. I think that the question is kind of awkwardly worded, so I have provided a “translation” for you, so to speak. *Be sure to write a solid paragraph with a topic sentence that provides direction for the rest of the paragraph and a strong concluding sentence. (At least 6-10 sentences.) *Your response should show me that you know the story well. Use lots of specific examples and details from the stories. Also, feel free to use your imagination a bit when talking about how the story would have been different had the darker impulse not taken control. *Be sure to name the piece of literature and its author. *Be sure to proofread your work carefully. *If you prepare your answer in advance of opening the test, you may use your book and study guide to help you. You may not consult other sources. You may only use your book and study guide for the essay questions, NOT the rest of the test. Additional Open Ended Question for Honors Students Only:. For each item on the list of writing techniques below, choose the selection from Unit 3 that best utilizes it. Describe how it is used, the effects of its use in the story, and give reasons why you chose it. (You don't really have to give reasons why you chose it. That doesn't really make sense if you’ve already explained how it was used.) (10 points) You may use bullet points as shown below, but you need to write a few sentences for each technique. • Withheld information • Unreliable narrator • Shocking twist • Foil Be sure to demonstrate your knowledge of the piece by incorporating specific story details that illustrate what you are saying. Be sure to mention the name of the piece in quotation marks in which the technique occurs and mention the author as well. Proofread your work. If you prepare your answer in advance of opening the test, you may use your book and study guide to help you. You may not consult other sources. As much I want to help, and as much as I don't want to preach about "do your own hw" I'm not going to write papers for you. I have a lot of stuff to do and I don't have the time to write other stuff. I can give you idea though

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Yeah, ideas please because I'm going to fail this class.

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

I was thinking doing the first question on The Most Dangerous Game.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What school do you go to?

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Er, I dunno. I live in PA if that makes a difference. This is my first year.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I go to LSS I took a similar test but I don't think we have the same lessons.

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Oh, that's lame. So, you didn't do those questions? I'm slowly doing it, but it's just hard when you don't know what you're doing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I've honestly done all my assignments in a similar fashion

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Do you know what story in Unit 3 uses withheld information? @jackmullen55

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

I finished the test!! Thanks for the help, I think? Haha. @jackmullen55
