Which strategy would not correctly solve this story problem? It took Dennis twice as long to walk to the park as it did to walk to the store. He walked to the store in 15 minutes. He spent 5 more minutes walking to the library than to the store. How much time did Dennis spend walking? A. Work backward. Start with 5 minutes and add it to 15. Then add 15 more minutes to the sum to find the total time Dennis walked. B. Use logical reasoning. Dennis walked for 2 periods of 15 minutes, another period of 15 minutes, and 1 more period of 15 minutes plus 5 more minutes. So Dennis walked for 4 × 15 minutes plus 5 more minutes. C. Translate into an equation. 2 × 15 + 15 + 5 + 15 = m D. Draw a diagram. Draw 2 lines and write 15 min above each line. Draw another line and write 15 min above it. Draw another line and write 15 + 5 above it. Add up all the amounts above the lines to find the total time Dennis walked.

@princess1990, what are your thoughts regarding this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm i think that the anwer is d but then i dont know

hero (hero):

Why do you think it is D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i though A

hero (hero):

Let's not start guessing here.

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

She is just guessing @Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i am nt its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be the first one, because if one of them is twice as long there would be a (15 + 15) or a (30) which isn't even shown in the answer. so it would be A

hero (hero):

@princess1990, let's do this:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did It would be the first one, because if one of them is twice as long there would be a (15 + 15) or a (30) which isn't even shown in the answer. so it would be A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok let go thorugh it

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

Okay lets go through it * -.-

hero (hero):

Tell me the total time it took for each situation. We're given how long it took to walk to walk to the store. Tell me how long it took for the other scenarios: Store: 15 min Park: ? Library: ?

hero (hero):

Waiting on you @princess1990

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know i am trying to figureit out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30 parks 15 stores and 20 libary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i right

hero (hero):

Yes, correct. And A is also correct. Great job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i ahve another one can u help me check it

hero (hero):
