PLEASE HELP!!! I KNOW THIS ISN'T IN THE RIGHT SUBJECT BUT NO ONE WILL HELP ME IN HISTORY!!! The picture above depicts a camp meeting during the Second Great Awakening. Which of the following best describes what happened at these meetings? These inspirational meetings were designed to encourage people in different denominations (Baptist, Methodist, etc.) to come together as a single denomination. These religious meetings, held outdoors and in tents, were believed to inspire people to confess their sins and examine their personal religious beliefs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These meetings, attended by men and women, inspired people to discuss personal feelings and goals about issues like slavery and women's rights. These lively meetings were a way of building community relationships and establishing leaders by allowing everyone to openly discuss goals and ideas.

The image is just a picture of people gathered outside at a camp meeting..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's A but I'm not sure.. :/

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Pretty sure that you're supposed to know something about the Second Great Awakening, and that will allow you to choose the correct answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do but all of them make sense and I need help to help me choose which one is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I read about camp meetings in Wikipedia and that gave me the answer of A but then I'm not sure, I want to double check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whpalmer4 any thoughts??

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I think C and D are not correct. I'm a bit undecided on A vs. B. My take is that they did encourage people to come together, but I'm not sure that they encouraged them to come together as a single denomination...

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I have a slight preference for B, but honestly, I don't know for sure.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

This is why I like math questions :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was kind of deciding between those too, but then I read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_meeting and it said towards the end of paragraph one something about uniting, ya know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha Yea, I get it & sorry! no one helps in the history section.. :/

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Yeah, I read that same primary source material :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh haha, so then should I go with A and then tell you which answer is was after I finish the test?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Sure! Always curious to know when I can't figure it out. It's funny, so many kids have an "I'm not going to ever use this in life" attitude about doing say math problems, but I'm trying to imagine where knowing the correct answer to THIS question is ever going to matter to someone later on!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha okay! & I know, sometimes I have the same attitude when I'm frustrated but all this is taught for a reason!

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Got any math problems for me? No extra charge :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha not right now no, :) I just finished math finals so I am good for this year with math! lol but thanks for the offer!! :)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay. I did have an acquaintance in high school long, long ago who went to some sort of revival meetings for days on end. I just thought she was kind of nuts, maybe if I had asked more questions I would be in a position to answer more definitively now!

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Nah, I'd probably still just remember that she was cute, but nuts :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha that's okay though, you tried and I appreciate it! :) I will tell you what the answer was when I finish, though it might take a little bit of time since I am a slow worker.. XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL, omgg that sounds like something I'd remember XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whpalmer4 I submitted the test and got 70% which is not bad!! I do online school so this grade is actually pretty good, but I got the answer we were working on wrong which makes me think I should've went with B. They didn't give me the answer though, in case I want to retake it or something...

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Must have been B, then. I was about 55% sure B, 45% A, 0% C or D. I didn't see any mention of discussing goals, did you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay, haha & no I didn't.. :/ I just don't like the fact that most of the questions they ask you on tests have no relation to what they taught us in the lesson.. But there's nothing I can do about, lol @whpalmer4
