Hello everyone. I need help with this one and only question. Please help me How is the consumption of food used as a symbol in the play? What does food stand for in the play? How does Oscar Wilde use symbolism in his social commentary? Use examples from the play to support your answer.
Those are three questions. And is this from a book?
Well. yeah, its a play and I kept re-reading those scenes in the book and I didnt get it.
What is the name of the play?
The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
Unfortunately, i have not read this but, try posting this in the Literature section, maybe you'll get better help there. :)
Ok :) Well Thank you for at least trying to help
You're welcome!
I haven't read this play since sophomore year, so I don't remember a lot about it. I do remember writing an essay on something like this, and, from that, I do remember that the food was used as a commentary upon the frivolity of the upper class and their lack of concern for anything of real importance. Sorry I can't be of any more help.
Also, try putting this into google. There might be the same essay prompt I had with some sample responses.
ok thank u :) @geneticrockhopper247
