Which sentence contains a misplaced or dangling modifier? A. Birds migrating from the north to the south flew overhead. B. On hearing news of the storm, the school was closed. C. To check out the book yourself, just scan the bar code. D. Easing up on the throttle, the boy guided the boat to the dock.

Do you have any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im thinking B..

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

Actually, it would be D In the phrase "Easing up on the throttle," 'on' is a hanging modifier. It is not necessary. It works just as "Easing up the throttle," Or, you could remove 'up', and it would still work "Easing on the throttle,"
