@Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The work should look like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can upload another example if needed

hero (hero):

Seems easy enough. What prevents you from being able to do it yourself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not good at foiling, or solving for a variable

hero (hero):

Show the steps up to the point where you get stuck. Then I'll help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the picture, where it says y2^2+6y2+9 in red, I dont know how they are getting the numbers. If I knew where the numbers came from, I could solve it.

hero (hero):

It comes from squaring \((y_2 + 3)^2\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, but where does the 6y2 and the 9 come in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see, i think i got it now!!!!

hero (hero):

\(\begin{align*}(y_2 + 3)^2 &= (y_2 + 3)(y_2 + 3)\\&=y_2(y_2 + 3) + 3(y_2 + 3) \\&= y_2^2 + 3y_2 + 3y_2 + 9 \\&=y_2^2 + 6y_2 + 9\end{align*}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thank you so much! I believe I got it know!

hero (hero):

Okay, good.
