Randy does 200 newton-meters of work moving a 100 pound piano a distance of 5 meters. How much force did he use? 40 newton-meters 500 newton-meters 1,000 newton-meters 20,000 newton-meters
\[W=Fx\] where \(W\) is work, \(F\) is force, \(x\) is distance.
None of those answers is correct. It asks for th eforce used - but the answers are in Newton metres. Force is measured in Newtons The mass of the piano (100lb) is not relevant As given above Work = F*d you are given W= 200Nm d = 5m So oyu can work out the Force in Newtons - however the answer options are NOT correct so you cannot give a correct answer if this is multichoice - the answer has unite Newtons - NOT Nm
Or you could assume that the problem's author intended to use the proper units, which would yield a correct answer option, as "none of the above" is not an answer choice either :-)
