What causes nickel and certain other metals to be magnetic? A. the motion of protons in their atoms B. the pattern of electrons in their atoms C. the influence of the earth's magnetic field D. their atoms have more electrons than protons

This question has very poor answer choices as whether a element is magnetic or not relies on if it has a paramagentic electron structure or a diamagnetic electron structure. I'm assuming there are referencing "patterns" as the way the electrons fill there respective orbitals so i would go with B.
