Fan, Medal, and Testimonial!!!!! Jason wants to choose 9 players for his track team. There are 12 players to choose from. How many different teams can Jason make?
Multiply 12 by 9
108
Right :)
thanks!! Could you help me with a few more?
If I can!
Ok, 1 sec
I'll do my best
Write the number of permutations in a factorial form. Then simplify. How many different ways can you and four of your friends sit in the backseat of a limousine?
@TragicTruth ? I thought you were gonna help me...?
Didn't get the notification :/
@TragicTruth hello?
Did they give you any multiple choice answers or not? I'm also researching permutations in a factorial form because i've never had to do them like that
My choices are A) 4!; 24 B) 4!; 120 C) 5; 120 D) 5!; 720 @TragicTruth
Okay so it looks like 120 because you can do 5*4*3*2*1= 120
so C?
I would say so because there's 5 people
ok, how about this question? Below are the results of tossing a number cube 9 times. Find the experimental probability of tossing an odd number.
4,3,6,6,2,5,3,5,1
@TragicTruth
Add up how many numbers there are which is 9
And then count how many of the numbers were odd
5 were odd numbers
Good! So your answer is 5/9
thanks! Here's another When buying a new car, you have a choice of 4 different models, 3 different colors, and either compact or family size. How many choices are there for one car?
@TragicTruth can you help me understand this?
I have to have this stuff finished at a certain time, or I fail Math. So im kinda trying to hustle
So you have 4 different models, 3 different colors and 2 other choices which is your compact or family size
$ * 3 * 2
Sorry I meant 4 * 3 *2
24?
Yeah I understand and I'm sorry because I'm trying to do the same :/
Correct!
So you have 24 choices for the car
THANKS!! A bag contains tiles with the letters C-O-M-B-I-N-A-T-I-O-N-S. Lee chooses a tile without looking and doesn’t replace it. He chooses a second tile without looking. What is the probability that he will choose the letter O both times?
So once again, count how many letters there are ( 12 )
And how many of those letters are O?
2
Right so the answer is 2/12
thanks! A pizza shop offers the toppings shown below. How many different 3-topping pizzas can you make? Peperoni Mushrooms Sausage Onion Ham @TragicTruth
Do you have choices?
6 10 4 5 @TragicTruth
um..
You basically do 5 * 4 / 2*1 which is 10
You can make 10 different 3 topping pizzas
thanks, and I swear on my grave and first unborn child these are the last 2 questions!
A bag contains 2 white marbles and 7 purple marbles. Two marbles are drawn at random. One marble is drawn and not replaced. Then a second marble is drawn. a) What is the probability of selecting a purple marble and then a white marble? b) what is the probability of selecting two white marbles? c) Is there a greater chance of selecting two white marbles ina row or two purple marbles in a row?
Haha it's fine, sorry I'm taking so long, I'm working on my own stuff as well :)
its fine! I just need help in Math, your the first person to ever sit down and really help me :)
Okay so there are 9 marbles in total ( 7 + 2 ) and there are 7/9 purple and 2/9 white. So what's your probability of selecting a purple marble? And then a white marble?
i think 63 and 18?
The chances of the first marble being purple is 7/9 because we have 9 marbles in total and 7 of them are purple. But if we take one purple out of the bag, there is only 6/8 left. 7/9 * 6/8 = 7/12
For being able to select two white marbles, just change the numbers to be correct for the white marbles ( 2/9 * 1/8 ) = 1/36
The last question is asking if you think you have a greater chance of picking out two marbles in a row or two purple marbles in a row. The answer is purple because it's 7/12 vs. 1/36 meaning there is more purple ( while there are only 2 white marbles, there are 7 purple marbles )
So we have 1/36 chance of picking white marble?
OMG! MATH GENIOUS!!!!!!
Spelled that wrong
Right, it's a 1/36 chance of picking a white marble :)
I did the math above so in case you need to show it :)
the 2/9 turns to 1/8 because you have 2 white marble out of 9 but if you select one white marble, you're left with only one white marble and only 8 marbles in total.
I hope that made sense ^.^
Thanks!! Could I ask 1 more question, Im not sure about my answer?
@TragicTruth
I'm really sorry but I don't know :/
