OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

True or False? (will medal/fan) An immune system that does not function properly could prevent an animal from maintaining homeostasis by allowing the animal to become sick.

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Okay, thank you. Are you sure? Could you explain? @SyedMohammed98 Is this correct?

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

What is maintaining homeostasis?

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

Examples of homeostasis include the regulation of temperature and the balance between acidity and alkalinity (pH). It is a process that maintains the stability of the human body's internal environment in response to changes in external conditions.

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Also, if either of you could help with fill in the blanks, that'd be awesome! @SyedMohammed98 @gandalfthegrey. And okay, thanks. I get why it'd be true! :)

syed98 (syedmohammed98):

You're Welcome :) um sorry to say but I gotta go :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I might be able to help. :)

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Okay, hold on let me type the questions! @gandalfthegrey

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Here are all the fill in the blank questions. Please help with the ones you can. Thanks!! @gandalfthegrey "Deuterostomes" "Cladogram" "External" "Body plan" "Osmosis" "Tools" "Sensory Neurons" (This is the word bank) 21. The ______ of animals is based on scientists’ current understand of the evolutionary history of living species. 22. Different species within the same phylum all have the same basic ________. 23. Although they are radially symmetrical, echinoderms are more closely related to a human than to a jellyfish because they are ___________. 24. The first hominine in the genus Homo was named Homo habilis because evidence indicates that members of the species used__________. 25. To conserve water, an animal’s kidneys can pump ions across cell membranes, allowing water to move by ________. 26. A sense organ is made up of ____________________ and other cells that help gather information. 27. Salmon reproduce by _____________ fertilization, because a female salmon releases her eggs onto the riverbed before the male covers them with his sperm.

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

27. External?

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

22. Body plan?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Definitions: deuterostome: animal where the first opening during embryonic development becomes the anus, not the mouth. cladogram: a tree-like diagram that attempts to describe how a group of species may be separated from other species. The pattern of separation does not need to reflect the evolutionary history of the set in question. external: on the outside of something body plan: the developmental pathway that an organism follows to move from the single cell to the full adult, example, a zygote (fertilized egg) in humans to the adult human form. osmosis: movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane due to different osmotic pressures driven by solutes that cannot cross the membrane. tools: objects used to perform or aid in the performance of a task. May be abstract like the genetic tools (genes) an organisms uses. sensory neurons: nerves that are involved in sensing things like like, force, heat, etc

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Thank you @mrdoldum. So, does that mean @gandalfthegrey is correct? I don't wanna miss questions. >-<

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Best response for @gandalfthegrey and fan for you @mrdoldum :))

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Thanks again guys!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the questions themselves are not worded the best, and 1 &2 in particular are problematic. That is on the end of the question maker though, the the question answerer. I'm not going to confirm direct answers as we should not be giving them out.

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

Well, okay.. Thank you anyways. @mrdoldum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With the definitions I think you can easily double check them yourself, at least to the point that you can be sure of all but maybe 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21. "Cladogram" 22. Not sure. 23. "Deuterostomes" 24. "Tools" 25. osmosis 26. "Sensory Neurons"

OpenStudy (ayeeeitskateee):

@Trojan Thanks, best response and fan! The other person that I gave a medal deleted their comment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!
