Geometry 12 Online
OpenStudy (jaylelile):

If AB:BC is 3:11, solve for x.

OpenStudy (jaylelile):

OpenStudy (jaylelile):

anyone??? D:

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Wait. I'm confused. Isn't AB supposed to be 3? And isn't that supposed to be where X is? This is all quite strange.

OpenStudy (jaylelile):

I totally feel like it's a trick question!!

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

I know! it's so weird! I even asked my older sister (she graduated highschool so she's pretty smart) and even she didn't know what it was!

OpenStudy (jaylelile):

noooooo!!!!!! I can not figure this out at all.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Hang on. You wait right there! I'm gonna go look this up.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Hang on. What subject is this? I mean I know it's a form of math, but is there like a specific name for it? Is it a certain type of geometry?

OpenStudy (jaylelile):

Ratio and Proportion in Geometry.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Well that should help for my solution hunting.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

I think I might get it now. So the ratio means that whatever AB is, BC is 3.67 times bigger.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

So I think what you need to do is divide 33 by 3.67. Whatever the result of that is is X.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

So about 9

OpenStudy (jaylelile):

ohhhhhhh okay, I kept getting 6 but I totally am seeing where you got the 9. Thank you so much! weeee!

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

My god. That question was brutal. XD

OpenStudy (jaylelile):

Geometry is brutal.... lol
